Integrations are a feature only available to users on the Premium and Business Pro plans.
What Does the Integration Do?
Mews is a hospitality management software for hotels and other hospitality providers. Using the Mews integration with Keycafe allows for key access codes and instructions to automatically be created and sent to your guests when a reservation is created in Mews. Guests can then arrive at the property at their check-in time and independently retrieve their keys at a SmartBox.
Managing Multiple Hotels
A Keycafe user can integrate with one Mews account. If you manage multiple properties in multiple Mews accounts, you will need multiple Keycafe users (for example, the General Manager of each hotel). We suggest creating a separate Keycafe Organization for each property so their keys, bookings, and users are independently managed.
How to Set Up the Integration
1. Add Keycafe Integration to Mews
- Follow the steps from Mews to add the Keycafe Integration to your Mews account.
2. Generate a Mews Access Token
- Follow the steps from Mews to create an access token.
- Keep this tab open, or copy the access token and paste it into a document.
3. Link Your Accounts
- In your Keycafe dashboard, select +Add > Integration > Mews.
- Enter your Mews Access Token then click Submit.
Add Mews Space ID Number to Keycafe Key
Your Mews Space ID is used to identify the associated key in Keycafe. If you have multiple spaces and multiple keys, this must be done for each pair.
- In your Mews dashboard, select the Main Menu > Settings > Property > Space configuration > Spaces.
- Select a Space, then copy the text string in the url after "/Detail/". In this example, the Space ID is

- In your Keycafe dashboard, select Keys, then the key for the listing. If you have not yet created the key for the listing, see Adding a Key to do so.
- Select About Key > Edit, then enter the Space ID Number in the External ID field and click Save.
Using the Integration
When a Reservation is created in Mews, a Keycafe one-time booking for the associated key will be automatically generated with the same start and end date/time as the reservation. Any changes to the reservation in Mews will be reflected in the Keycafe booking, including time/date changes and a cancellation of the reservation. Please allow for 1-2 minutes for new reservations and changes to show up in the Keycafe booking.
The booking code to access the key at your SmartBox is then automatically sent to the guest by email.
SmartBox Location
Note that the email does not specify where your SmartBox is located, so you will need to separately let your guest know where it is.
Disconnecting Your Mews Account
- In your Keycafe dashboard, select Integrations > Mews > About Integration > Disconnect.
- Click Disconnect to confirm.
