Roaming is a feature only available to users on the Premium and Business Pro plans.
About Roaming
Roaming is a key-level setting that allows organizations with multiple SmartBox locations to restrict which location the key can be returned to.
When the Roaming setting is enabled, the key can be dropped off at any SmartBox location within the same organization, even if it was picked up from a different location.
When the Roaming setting is disabled, the key can only be dropped off at its Home Location (ie. where the key was picked up from).
By default, newly created keys have the Roaming setting enabled.
How to Enable / Disable Roaming
- In the Keycafe desktop or mobile app, navigate to Keys → name of a key → About Key → Edit.
- Scroll down to Roaming and toggle it on or off, then select Save.
Change a Key's Home Location
You can change a key's Home Location two ways:
Manually:
- In your list of keys, select a key → About Key → Edit.
- Under Home Location, enter the name of a different location, then select Save.
Enabling Roaming and dropping the key off at another location:
- Enable Roaming for the key following the steps above.
- Drop the key off at the location you'd like to become the new Home Location.
- Disable Roaming to restrict key drop offs to the new Home Location.
